After two previous subcontractors failed to restore reliable performance, Pelican State Credit Union turned to Mullin to bring its 50-zone irrigation system fully operational. Rather than sourcing costly replacement parts for outdated components, Mullin proposed a system upgrade using cost-effective, modern equipment backed by a warranty. Mullin’s technicians reconfigured the zone layout for Zones 1–50 and optimized the sequencing of irrigation coverage to improve consistency and efficiency across the site. At the credit union’s request, the upgraded system was designed to allow for future expansion as additional landscaped areas are added and the commercial site continues to grow.
With work taking place at the credit union’s active headquarters—amid high foot traffic and frequent vehicle movement—Mullin prioritized safety throughout the project. Two irrigation technicians completed the majority of the work over two days (approximately 40 man-hours) with zero recordable safety incidents. The project presented several challenges, including the complete absence of zone layouts or valve location maps, plus field conditions complicated by ongoing construction that had exposed and damaged irrigation wiring.
“IT NEVER LOOKED THIS GOOD!”
To overcome the site challenges, Mullin’s team deployed specialized wire-tracing equipment (which detects sound frequencies) to locate all 50 valves. The team then uncovered valve boxes buried by turf growth and mulch buildup, repaired damaged wiring, and restored full system function—on budget and on schedule.
Upon completion, Mullin conducted a walkthrough with FMM, the third-party maintenance company, demonstrating proper and reliable system operation across all zones. FMM was impressed with the results and complimented the overall condition and maintenance of the property, stating, “It never looked this good!”
Through consistent communication and responsive service, Mullin earned a verbal commitment from Pelican State Credit Union for contract renewal—not only for this property but also for additional umbrella bank branches.
